Terminology and Classification FotoFood.net has been developed primarily as a comprehensive Digital Food Image Library. However, it is our belief that the food industry has a responsibility to inform and educate, whilst still providing a service to our clients. We have therefore developed this site to allow its use for reference by students, teachers, health professionals or anyone who has a keen interest in food. The nutritional information provided within this database has been compiled primarily by classifying each foodstuff into their individual food groups, such as fruit, vegetables and dairy. We have then, where possible, sub-classified each foodstuff to allow a greater depth of accuracy and comprehension. Some foodstuffs have been classified down to their individual variety, which has posed difficulties in obtaining nutritional data. The differences between the varieties will be minimal and so the data presented is the same for each variety shown. The data presented has been selected for its relevance towards health and eating a nutritiously
balanced diet. More information is shown highlighting the benefits or detriments of that food to health.
This basic, practical dietary advise can be used to enable you to get the most from your food.
